The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has continued to apply pressure on the Andrews Labor Government to allocate funding for Stage 2 of the Goulburn Valley Health redevelopment in the 2019 State Budget.
In a constituency question to the Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos, Ms Lovell highlighted the Government’s failure to finalise and cost the review of the hospital’s Master Plan and called on the Minister to ensure that adequate funding is allocated in the May State Budget to ensure the redevelopment continues uninterrupted.
A review of the 2015 GV Health Master Plan was carried out by the Department between March and May 2018 with results of the review to be finalised last June. To date, nearly 12 months after it commenced, the review of the Master Plan has not been finalised or fully costed.
The building of Stage 1 is scheduled for completion in December 2020 and to ensure building works for Stage 2 of GV Health commence immediately following the completion of Stage 1, funding for Stage 2 would need to be allocated in the 2019-20 budget.
Comments attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Region, Wendy Lovell:
“Finalising and costing of the review of the Master Plan is required to ensure the continuous progression of the Goulburn Valley Health redevelopment.
The Minister needs to explain why her Government has failed to complete this review and release the final costings of the Master Plan to the community.
The Goulburn Valley community deserve better than a half-built hospital and I call on the Minister to ensure that funding is allocated in the 2019 Budget to allow for planning of Stage 2 and a continuous build of GV Health.
