Macedon residents with concerns about district roads are being encouraged by Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell to take part in the conversation on how to improve the road networks in the local area and wider state.
VicRoads is currently conducting the Country Roads project, which includes talking to local communities about how it can better plan, build, manage and maintain the almost 20,000 kilometres of country arterial roads in Victoria.
As part of this, there will be a community conversation drop-in session held in Woodend on July 25, as well as an online discussion that is open until August 13.
Ms Lovell has long championed improvements for regional roads, and said she is acutely aware that many country people have concerns about road safety and conditions, as well as suggestions on how things can be improved.
“Last year, I raised numerous local roads issues in Parliament and with the Minister, including the Calder Highway near the Campaspe River Bridge and from the raceway to Woodend, the Bacchus Marsh-Gisborne Road beyond Bullengarook, and the Daylesford-Malmsbury Road near the Kyneton entry,” Ms Lovell said.
“I am aware there is still a lot of conversation in the local community about the state of roads within the district and across Victoria, so I strongly encourage anyone who has anything they feel should be said to take part in the discussion that VicRoads is currently having.”
“There is already some good online discussion in the region’s section of the project, and to make sure VicRoads is fully aware of exactly what local users of our roads feel are the biggest issues to address, I strongly encourage Macedon residents to attend the drop-in session or add to the online discussion by sharing their priorities for the future of the road network in the region,” Ms Lovell said.
The community drop-in session is on Tuesday July 25 at the Norma Richardson Hall, 15 Buckland Street Woodend, 4.30-6.30pm. The online discussion forum will be open for comment until 13 August 2017.
