The Liberal Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish and the Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell have joined forces to advocate for a new Mansfield SES building, calling on the Andrews Labor Government to purchase land at its existing site at the old sale yards to build a new facility and create an emergency services hub for the town in the future.
Ms McLeish raised the matter with the Minister for Police and Emergency Services Lisa Neville in March, calling for funding to build a new and modern facility for the Mansfield SES as well as funding to support planning for an emergency services precinct in the future.
Speaking in State Parliament this week, Ms Lovell said Mansfield Shire Council is wanting to sell the old Mansfield sale yards site that houses the current SES building and the location is perfect not just for a new SES facility but for new ambulance and CFA facilities, creating a new emergency services hub for Mansfield.
A designated emergency services hub will allow all agency training with enough space to construct a purpose built Incident Control Centre.
Comments attributable to Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish:
“The Mansfield SES unit perform over 8000 hours of rescue work each year and they need a new and modern facility for its volunteers.
“Mansfield is a real growth pocket and with a new SES unit, further funding is needed to plan for the development of an emergency services hub on the old sale yards site.”
Comments attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell:
“Mansfield SES deserves a new modern headquarters that meets their needs.
“The old sale yards site is a perfect location for a fully integrated emergency services hub that will best service the needs of the Mansfield community.”
